Are you missing out on Bible study because of the pandemic? DISCIPLE Online, the online version of the life-changing Disciple, Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study, might be right for you. Everything can be done from home or from wherever you are as long as you have access to a computer.
All you need for the course are:
- High speed internet access
- A computer with an internal or external camera with microphone
- A study Bible and a course study manual
- An adventurous spirit and desire to study the Bible in a new way!
We will complete our daily reading and reflection on our own (about 30 to 45 minutes a day). Another part of our work will be done individually online, for example, watching the weekly video. It is on the class Discussion Board, also available 24/7, that we will share prayer requests and support each other through prayer, discuss the weekly video, and answer a few additional questions.
Led by facilitator, Susan Webb, this study is offered for members of and those associated with First UMC in Gainesville, FL and open to any United Methodist congregation in the city of Gainesville. Participants will covenant together to study the scripture faithfully for the duration of the course (34 weeks) and participate in weekly Zoom meetings. The weekly Zoom sessions will be on Mondays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The orientation meeting will be on Monday, August 31 at 7:00 pm.
Participants will need to independently acquire the student manual after enrolling in the course: Disciple I Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study: Study Manual: Second Edition The $30 fee covers the online assignments, support for the discussion board, and the videos.
**For those needing assistance with the cost of fees and manual, First UMC will provide scholarships, regardless of the participant’s home church. Email Pastor Beth Snarr at disciple@fumcgnv.org (the church will register the participant and order the manual for scholarship recipients).
