
This microcourse is for laity who are facing confusion or misunderstanding about spiritual gifts. The three-hour Zoom session, with instructor Barbara Justis and guest Beth Perry, will provide a scriptural foundation for the gifts, clarification of misunderstandings, and practical application for ministry through spiritual gifts. This microcourse will is useful for certified laypersons, church leaders, or those simply exploring lay ministry. The daily Blackboard forums, with instructor Barbara Justis, will provide opportunities for consideration of thought-provoking questions.
To earn .5 CEUs and a completion certificate, four daily Blackboard forums will be required along with one Zoom meeting, held on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. Eastern time. The meeting will not be recorded. Learners not interested in the CEU and certificate are welcome to participate in just the Zoom session.

About the Instructors
Barbara Justis has more than two decades of experience serving on a district Lay Servant Ministries team as training coordinator and course instructor. Her passion is ensuring the laity has access to the coursework available through the LSM program in a timely and efficient manner. During her membership in the Virginia Annual Conference, she was also a Certified Lay Speaker and Certified Lay Minister who served as a Lay Supply Pastor for several years. Barbara is the Zoom moderator and will manage daily conversations in the Blackboard Discussion Forum.
Beth Perry will be the conversation host for this microcourse. She has been a passionate educator and trainer empowering others to discover and use their spiritual gifts for ministry for more than three decades. She has been a BeADisciple instructor since 2010. Her studies about spiritual gifts are current, and her talking points are relevant and practical for today’s lay ministry. As an experienced Zoom commentator, she will share insights, provide commentary, and lead thought-provoking conversations about God’s call for laypersons to minister through their gifts.
