For Christians, the season of looking forward to Christmas is about hope, but that hope is sometimes drowned by busy-ness in the weeks leading up to our celebration of Christ’s birth. This course is for faithful Jesus followers once again facing the hustle and bustle that accompany the approach of Christmas. The one-week course addresses the nature of the pre-Christmas season, easing some of the misgivings we may have about secular practices while providing information and a framework for a Christian approach within everything else that’s going on.
In addition to blackboard interactions, a required Zoom session will be held on Monday, November 18 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm eastern. The session will be recorded, but participants seeking CEU credit must be present live on Monday evening.
This course is eligible for 0.5 CEU.

About the Instructor
Ron McCreary earned a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology in1984. His seminary education included a rich background in Christian liturgy. For this course, however, he calls on his love of Advent as his favorite season of the year, one he looks look forward to each year. Ron especially loves the traditional Scripture readings of the season. The days can get busy (especially for church staff), though, and wear one down. Ron also deals with seasonal affect disorder (SAD) as the days get shorter, and will include this issue in the Advent course.
