This course is for those who read Scripture aloud for a worshipping congregation, and want to increase their people’s engagement with God’s powerful stories of Jesus’ death and Resurrection. This year, we’ll explore Matthew’s Resurrection story deeply together. We’ll experience its challenges, and coach one another in reading it “with a storytelling spirit!”
This Advent journey is for both liturgists who prefer to read the Scripture in worship, and biblical storytellers who tell by heart. It’s a relaxed but in-depth journey, as we work not just to read, but to proclaim the Scripture texts “with a storytelling spirit”!
In this course, you will explore the meaning and the office of class leader, the contemporary office and work of class leader, and the difference between church membership and discipleship.
“The LSM Basic Course” was created to equip new leaders and renew those currently serving. As the foundational course for all Lay Servant Ministries offerings and certifications, it introduces the three core ministry areas of Leading, Caring, and Communicating.
This course leads you to learn from John Wesley how to practice relational evangelism. You will discover that evangelism involves not only sharing your faith with others but also welcoming people into a community where they can grow in faith. You will learn that evangelism/mission/outreach requires developing relationships with those that we are leading to Christ.
“John and Charles Wesley and the early Methodists understood the importance of Christian community, lay leadership in ministry, small groups, and mutual accountability, and supporting the work of Christian formation.” Through devotions, daily videos, lectures, and discussions, you will deepen your understanding of living in the household of God, as you explore accountability, relationships, and grace.
As a Christian servant and church leader, you are called to practice and model the disciplines of daily prayer and Bible study as you grow in discerning God’s presence in your life. This course will help you increase in patience and devotion leading to witness and service.
Are you ready to move toward more effective small groups? This two-week course teaches the Wesleyan way to form missional communities and congregations. It is based on the conviction that just as holiness of heart leads to holiness of life, communities of holy love participate in God’s mission in the world.
Are you ready to take your Bible Study group or adult Sunday School class to a deeper level? This Advanced Lay Servant course might be just what you need! You’ll develop interpretation skills, practice in a comfortable group setting, and explore the use of current study resources.
This class challenges you to become stewards-in-action in all God has entrusted to us. We will go beyond thinking in terms of ‘dollars contributed’ to see stewardship as becoming living examples of the gospel. If we take stewardship seriously – and joyfully – it will change our thinking, acting and imagining. And it will change our vision of ministry, working from the inside out.
